You do realize those were made by several artists etc even if they are under Dreams circle? Don't individual artists deserve to get credit even if they are working under them if thats your stand behind credit? They are also likely to use tools or templates from other sources etc to make these things. Who knows we don't even know their internal workings.

I been in web development for 4 years and working on unity game for the 3rd year as indie with a small team, I met countless developers and you know whats the most common thing when it comes to needing assets, materials etc? They ask if its licensed for commercial use,  or if its royalty free, no crediting nonsense and the ability to modify.

You see studios credited when it comes to vfx but not individuals who worked on it under them, weak argument lol. That just makes your whole argument hypocritical and mine more true because yes it is selective credit. And when studios etc make music for a game, they usually do it exclusively for that particular game so it becomes more meaningful to credit them, you don't see them selling the kingdom hearts ost to god of war etc.

Because they want it to be their work in the end and just pay for extra things, its called transformative work. Meaning you use tools and other stuffs to make something that's your own work. And in the game developing environment, you want only whos part of your team to be mentioned, people who helped you with exclusive material, or something big like AI implementation.

But you are right, in the end the asset creator decides how they want sell their asset with their own terms, I'm just saying that is a very anti consumer thing that most developers would just scoff at and go to another place with less strings attached.

Its no point arguing about this, you have a very naive and unrealistic view of how it works and its their call in the end. But just know that we live in a world where very few things is truly original or is purely their own, as I mentioned before even the stuff they used is a collective work and there are probably some things they didn't even credit and it could be anything really if we are talking about credits.

Basically the moral of this is, their terms are not desirable but its fine because there are many other asset creators who understand this and I already found a lot of good ones on the unity store  馃槉

Price doesn't change anything here. I don't expect to take ownership as a creator of that asset, I just don't want to be obligated to credit them after I purchased it, I just wanna use it in my project. Not against crediting but there is such a thing as going too far with it or becoming unjustifiable/annoying to deal with.

The irony is that this asset itself doesn't fully credit everyone involved, read the description "Animations Collection: Cursed Kingdoms is a special pack inspired by the "Cursed Kingdoms" collaboration effort between several artists and asset creators.". If they cared or thought it was needed, they would mention every name involved. And as you can see several artists and asset creators worked on this, this is how things work in the real world, very few things are truly original and is always a collective work.

Your examples of stardew don't paint the full picture here and there are things that even they have not credited I'm sure. If you have ever decompiled or reverse engineered games, you would know just how many stuff go uncredited and are assets from other places.

Assets like these will turn away many serious developers because you're asking for money, its not even exclusive to your game and can be sold to others AND you also want me to credit you as if you were part of our project because we used few effects of yours? If you want credit you got to do a lot more than that.

Anyways.. there are better asset creators out there who get it and understand how it works and should be handled, all they ask is for payment and you can use it and modify it however you please with exception of redistributing it as your own (which makes sense). That's where most developers would go to, I can see using this maybe for prototyping only. I rather pay 5 times more for this just to license it or have the benefit of using it without the strings attached and if I want it I can just use this as a template reference to create my own effect and use that.

When you buy something, you expect to have ownership of that product without strings attached. I'm not asking to be able to say that this is mine or I created it, nor do I want to sell the assets myself, I'm not asking for any of that.

I Just don't want to be obligated to credit after purchasing it that's all. We all use tools and software etc and many don't ask you to credit them, Microsoft doesn't tell you to credit in your essay, that this was made using microsoft word or visual studio etc,  Your argument is weak bro.

Truth is that some people are the types who are so uptight with their product that it becomes very difficult to work with because of these types of restriction.

There's a reason why people purchase these things, go on a subscription/other plan and thats usually to get the rights to use a product without some restrictions (especially developers/creators who wanna make something out of it). There is a proper way of selling products and then there's an improper way like this.

Most professional developers don't wanna advertise your asset page in their main game simply because they bought a couple of your icons or whatever lmao. I paid you for it and its not like the product is exclusive to my game only so that doesn't make them part of my team to be deserving credit of the games development...

So you expect me to pay you for the asset, while that asset is not exclusive to my game and can be sold to others and ALSO credit you as part of my game development because I used a few of your animation effects?? lmao its clear you don't understand how it works in the real world. Even if you create something of your own, it will most likely be a collective work meaning you have used tools, software or other things from other people to create. Now imagine having to credit everyone and everything that was involved...

Its a shame that even after buying it, people are required to credit the asset. If it was free then the crediting would have been more understandable. Most serious developers would turn away from this type of asset because of that.

Nice looking animations though.
